Sometimes it really feels helpless when our newborn cries for several hours and we are not able to identify the reason behind it. Babies cry, and yeah it's normal but when a well fed, healthy baby cries for a longer time and for no obvious reason then it's because of colic pain.
As per the many pediatricians, the cause of colic is unknown but it is associated with extra gas inhaled by the infant during feeding. Newborn colic pain in babies can trigger with these reasons also as well:
Indigestion
Any food allergy (which infant gets through mother milk)
Not burping the infant, after each feed
Over feeding or less feeding
Colic pain in babies mainly starts after the 2- 3 weeks of birth. Most of the babies outgrow colic by the age of four to five months. Here are some natural and effective home treatments for colic babies. Try these colic remedies to soothe your baby.

Hing Massage
Add some Hing (asafoetida) in one tablespoon of water and warm it for a minute. Cool it little and massage the lukewarm paste over the naval area of the baby. This remedy helps in releasing gas and calming the baby. These days you can also buy tummy roll on; for instant relief from baby colic pain. We recommend Mamaearth Easy Tummy Roll, which is natural and really effective. Instead of giving any oral medicine, it's better to use roll on.
Tulsi Massage
Tulsi massage on the navel of the baby is also another home treatment for colic babies. Add some tulsi (basil) leaves in water and boil it. Cool and grind the tulsi leaves to a fine paste and apply on the navel of the baby. You can also give the lukewarm tulsi water (can give 2tbsp) to the baby above six month of age. Tulsi has the antispasmodic properties which helps infants from gastrointestinal problems.
Bicycle Exercise
This is an effective and simple baby exercise for releasing the gas. Simply lay down your baby on his/her back and move the legs as cycling motion. If the baby cries and doesn't like to do this exercise, stop immediately.
Tummy Time
Most popular and recommended is the tummy time to relieve the baby from colic. Gently place the baby on his/her tummy over the bed or your lap and rub the back slowly. Rubbing the back in an upward direction helps to pass the gas which relieves baby colic tummy. Tummy time is mostly recommended to infants above two months of age as their head and neck are little strong to support. Also make sure your baby is awake during the tummy time process.
Rocking
Rocking the baby in a baby cradle or rocking chair has been a popular process since centuries. As rocking helps in the stimulation of digestion, calm babies and they feel secure while rocking.
Tips:
Make sure your baby has burped after each feed.
Ensure your baby's head is little alleviated while feeding and hold him/her upright after each feed.
Breastfeeding mothers should not eat spicy and unhealthy food because it upset the baby tummy later.
Always use a good quality baby feeding bottle. (if your baby is on a bottle for feed). Make sure the tits of the bottle is as per the age of the baby. If the hole of the tits is bigger or smaller the baby will suck more air which results in colic.
