Pregnancy Essentials: Must Have Essentials for Expecting Moms

Updated: Jul 6, 2020

Pregnancy is beautiful and it's an exciting experience for every mom to be. It's quite adventurous when you feel a life inside you. Well, whether it's your first pregnancy or second a mother always has to undergo lots of hormonal changes in her body, causing nausea, stress, backache, swollen feet and many more. Here we have compiled all the must have pregnancy essentials for every momma to be to make their pregnancy journey comfortable and enjoyable.

Maternity Pillow

A maternity pillow is must-have essential in the start of the second trimester. This pregnancy pillow helps you in supporting your belly bump and provides you a comfortable sleep. The pillow is of c- shaped that helps support your body such as the back, belly bump, hips and knee. One should definitely buy the maternity pillow during the start of second trimester, it's useful during and beyond pregnancy. For easy breastfeeding you can take support of this pillow for a smooth feeding to your newborn.

Motion sickness wristbands

Morning sickness in the first trimester of pregnancy is quite common. This motion sickness wristband is knitted and has elastic. It works because of a plastic knob sewn inside of the wrist-band which exerts pressure and stimulates the P6, or Nei-Kuan, acupressure point. It's better to wear a band instead of eating anti-vomiting tablets and syrup in pregnancy. This has no side effects at all.

Stretch Mark Cream/Oil/Lotion Every pregnant woman has to handle the stretch marks and the intolerable itchy skin. It is advisable to hydrate the skin to avoid severe stretch marks after childbirth. There are many lotion and creams in the market which claims to have no marks but I personally find Bio oil to be best. The best time to start Bio oil is the second month of pregnancy. Another best lotion I will recommend is Shea butter mix with little castor oil and vitamin E capsule. This DIY lotion should be used after pregnancy, because its consistency is a little thick to apply on the belly bump. Therefore, it's best to use this DIY lotion after childbirth to heal and repair the skin. You can use this lotion during pregnancy also but make sure the consistency of the lotion is too thin to use, you can mix coconut oil to make its consistency thin.

Maternity Clothing Comfortable and stylish dresses are all what we want during pregnancy. It is very important to wear light, comfy and cotton outfits while you are expecting a baby.

Comfortable maternity gowns, tops, robes and night suits must be in your checklist for an easy going pregnancy.

Bra extender The bra extender is a blessing during pregnancy as you gain weight every month. With the bra strap extender you can perfectly extend your band size which is mostly needed during pregnancy. While buying make sure your existing bra and the extender have the same number of hooks.

Comfortable Shoes/Flats Say bye to your heels while pregnant. Wear flat sandals and shoes having comfortable soles and a good grip so it will prevent you from slipping. Prenatal Vitamins During pregnancy it is very important to have your vitamins tablets in time. If you are working woman, keep a set of medicine in your purse and a separate set at home, in this way you will never forget to take the medicine while going to the office or outside.

Epsom salt The heavy and swollen feet during pregnancy is common and quite painful. Soaking the feet into the epsom salt water reduces the pain. Take some warm water in a tub or bucket add half a cup of epsom salt to it and soak your feet for 15 minutes. Make sure the temperature of the water is comfortable and not so hot.

Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is very important when you are carrying a baby inside you. Keep a water bottle with you and do not forget to sip from time to time. For a healthy pregnancy you must take adequate water, it helps in transporting the essential nutrients into the blood cells. The level of amniotic fluid is also maintained if you drink sufficient water and helps in the development of a healthy baby.

Snacks

During pregnancy you feel intense hunger and cravings for food, due to higher blood levels. Therefore, it is the best idea to always have some healthy snacks with you to munch on. You can have dry fruits, roasted grams (bhuna chana), seasonal fruits, etc.
