We mommies always need instant food for our babies, therefore keep searching for healthy and homemade recipes. Today I am here with a super easy recipe for homemade instant cerelac that you can prepare in a minute and serve it to your baby. This homemade cerelac is healthy, delicious and best part it's a best travel food for babies. You can serve this cerelac to babies from the age of 1 to 5 years.

How to prepare:

Ingredients:

  • Phool makhana

  • Chuda

  • Plain Oats

  • Sabudana

  • Almonds

  • Peanuts

  1. Dry roast all ingredients in a pan. It is good to roast each and every ingredient separately because every ingredient has their own temperature to get heated.

  2. Do not roast the ingredients in ghee, because I feel it gets a little sticky after grinding and can not be stored for a long time. Therefore I prefer to dry roast and store it for a long time.

  3. Remove the outer skin of peanuts, because it may make the taste bitter.

  4. Grind all the ingredients in a mixer to fine powder. If your baby is below 1.5 years make your powder fine, and for babies above 1.5 years you can make coarse powder as well.

  5. To make it crunchy and a little more tasty you can mix corn flex, raisins, small cut pieces of dates, etc.

  6. Check the below video for a clear view how to make your travel friendly instant homemade cerelac.

How to serve:

  1. Take two tablespoon of homemade cerelac in a bowl and add hot water or milk according to you or your baby’s choice and availability.

  2. Mix to make a smooth paste, cool and serve it to your baby.

  3. If your baby likes to eat sweets, you can add jaggery or palm candy powder.

  4. To flavorize the cerelac, you can add dates syrup, cardamom powder, honey, chocolate syrup, mango jam, orange jam, etc.

  5. If you want to make it more healthy, add some mashed ripe banana and milk. Make a good consistency of the cerelac and serve the yummy cerelac to your baby.

  6. You can choose one flavor a day to serve to your baby, in this way he/she will get the various tastes and also not get bored.

  7. Watch out the below video to know how to serve the homemade instant cerelac to your kid. Here I have used dates syrup to flavourise the cerelac. I have kept the jaggery powder as well but at one time I put only one flavour so that the sweetness can be maintained.

Points to note:

  1. Always store the homemade cerelac in an airtight container.

  2. You can store the powder till one month outside the fridge and two to three months inside the fridge. I prefer to make it in small batches and avoid keeping it in the fridge.

  3. Prefer dry roasting of all the ingredients instead of roasting in desi ghee/oil/butter. It's easy to store for a long time when it is dry roasted.

  4. If your baby is below 2 years, take a little quantity of peanuts to make the cerelac, because peanuts are warm in nature and may cause constipation or upset the baby tummy. You can also skip the peanuts and take 5 to 6 almonds only.

  5. If your baby is below 1.5 years, make your powder fine by sieving it.

  6. Do not use sugar to make it sweet, it is good to avoid sugar for kids. You can use palm candy sugar, dates syrup or honey to make it sweet.

  7. If you are travelling, do not mix and make the cerelac before, try to make it fresh. You just need to carry a small bottle of warm water and a small container of powder. Yes, if you need you can mix jaggery powder and cardamom powder in advance if your baby loves to eat flavored cerelac.

Hope this recipe will help you to make a travel friendly recipe for your baby. I always feel very satisfied if I make anything on my own for my daughter.
